Grano Emporio is
moving from Hampden. Owner, Gino Troia,
has informed us it is moving, but at this time he isn’t at liberty to divulge
the new location. Troia stated, “We decided to look for a buyer two years ago. We
had a few offers from big players, but we resisted selling to big money as it
would have added more competition to the Grano Pasta Bar,” also located on the
Avenue in Hampden.
As for Grano Emporio’s building on Chestnut Avenue – Troia
confirmed negotiations are all positive with Bottega and its owner Adrien
Aeschilman, the highly popular micro Italian restaurant from the Station North
neighborhood.
There is more! Gino
advised, “In October of 2014 Grano Pasta Bar (GPB)
signed a lease with Baltimore City to build a GPB in Cross Street Market, which
was put on hold as City Administration was looking to lease the market to
developers. Two weeks ago we resumed our
work with Chesapeake Commercial Contracting to move quickly and plan to be
operating in the Cross Street Market before the winter holidays.”
Many of you will recollect that Grano Pasta Bar was featured
this past year on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the
Food Network.
