The Reginald
F. Lewis Museum is showing Soul Food Junkies, a 64 minute documentary by
filmmaker Byron Hurt on Sunday, April 6th at 2 p.m. The film looks at the past, the present and
the future of soul food from its origins in West Africa to the American South. It’s
impact on the health crisis in the modern American diet and the low cost of
calories to the high cost healthy options. Soul Food Junkies is the 2012 Winner Best Documentary, American Black Film
Festival.
